It is an acute irony that Rainbow Dash, the mare known best for her flashy colors, is the least colorful piece of this wallpaper, taking the backseat while the overarching theme takes the metaphorical wheel.
This irony is not, however, a sign of negativity. Rather, it's a refreshing take on things to have her vibrant colors (albeit not all of them, as there is no Orange) expressed through what surrounds her. The colored fills on each split 'screen' push in an obvious direction, leading your eyes to the most important pieces of the design: Rainbow Dash on the opposite sides and her cutie mark in the center.
The bolt in the middle is arguably the most important of those two parts, representing Rainbow Dash and her colors all in one central location, tying together the entire piece by being, quite literally, the 'center of attention'. The blue space in which Rainbow Dash herself sits upon in the image does a good job of keeping a pattern down, but this pattern's visual appeal is drawn back a notch due to a lack of consistency with backdrops.
Regardless of the background consistency, your eyes can follow a blue bar and always be guaranteed to find Rainbow sitting at the end of it. Move down, follow the flow of the next colored bar and you're there again. It has flow, and that's something that's very important in things like this, where your eyes have a lot to take in.
Overall, it has a tight focus on the center with a loose flow from the edges leading your eyes, almost as if on a guided tour, from one image of her to another. If you ask me, that's a pretty impressive feat considering the relative simplicity of the design.
I'm really not the biggest Rainbowdash fan, but this piece of artwork really caught my eye. The vibrant colors and 3rd dimensional style was like it was begging to be seen. Problem: Rainbowdash is TOO POPULAR. She is overused on the world of deviantART. This breaks down some of it's originality, although the mixed emotions were cute, so I'll give it to you on that one.
It may have caught my eye, but It wasn't powerful enough to make me jump out of my seat, which I always do with great artwork. However, it really pops. Also, I do understand this is a wallpaper, but it is unique from all artwork I've seen from Bronies, and you must have spent a lot of time on it.
This piece has it's up and downs, but it's still OK. marco23p, please strive for greatness and work on what you love. This is just my critique. Don't let it stop you from doing Rainbowdash art. I still love the art, but I had to give my honest opinion.
